Layar HDMI turns an Android phone or tablet into a monitor for a computer, camera or other HDMI device through a USB HDMI capture card. Picture and sound appear live on the device, can be captured as screenshots or recordings and, if you like, your touches are passed to the computer.
Free: monitor, audio, screenshots and recordings up to 5 minutes. PC touch control is part of Layar HDMI Pro (a one-time in-app purchase) and can be tried free for 7 days.

What you need
- An Android phone or tablet that can host USB devices (USB OTG).
- A USB HDMI capture card and an HDMI cable from the source device.
- For touch control: a Windows 10/11 or Linux computer running the Layar HDMI PC Agent on the same local network.
Features
Monitor and audio
The capture card's picture fills the screen, with its sound. Resolution and display options can be adjusted, and a crash guard remembers problematic video modes so they are not used again.
Screenshots and recordings
Screenshots are saved to Pictures/Layar HDMI and recordings to Movies/Layar HDMI, so they show up in your gallery right away. Recordings up to 5 minutes are free.
Picture-in-Picture and background
The monitor stays in a small window while you use other apps, and recording continues in the background.
PC touch control (Pro)
With the agent installed on your computer, touches and gestures on the phone or tablet are passed to that computer. The picture still travels over HDMI; only touch data goes over the network, after pairing with a 6-digit PIN. Download the agent and see how to set it up.
