An infected OJS journal is usually discovered when Google lists gambling or pharmacy titles under the journal, or when an indexer flags the site as harmful. The injected code is spread across OJS files, upload folders, and the database, and the way in often stays open after a cleanup.

This service cleans your journal, restores OJS to its official files, and then closes the way in.

What we do

Thorough cleanup. We trace injections in OJS core files, themes and plugins, the public and files folders, and the database (journal settings, static pages, and article metadata), not just one scanner.
Closing the way in. Common gaps such as outdated OJS or plugins, rogue user accounts, leaked passwords, and overly loose file permissions are closed after the cleanup.
Clean backups first. When a clean backup exists we always restore from it first, as it is more thorough than cleaning file by file.

What you get

A cleaned journal. Injections removed, articles and manuscript files intact, and the way in closed.
A findings report. What was found and how the intruder most likely got in, so you can keep the journal safe.

Workflow

We take a backup of the infected state and check whether a clean backup is available.
If so, the journal is restored from it. If not, OJS core files are replaced with official copies and injections in uploads and the database are cleaned.
Ways in such as outdated versions, rogue accounts, leaked passwords, and loose file permissions are closed.
A report with the findings and the likely way in is handed over to you.
